Why do some people bring there laundry in trash bags to the laundromat?

1) I don’t wait until my last pair of underwear to do my laundry.
2) The people who bring there laundry in trash bags usually take up 4 or more washers. Hello, other people need to do there laundry too you know.
3) Why a trash bag? They sell laundry baskets at the dollar stores.

How do I refresh my comforter?

I’m on a dust mite kick. I don’t want to take it to the laundromat and wash it. Something more like vacuuming it? But the vacuum will tear it up. Should I sprinkle baking soda on it? Something household. Any ideas? I don’t have febreeze, either.

My washing machine gears slip on heavy loads – can it be fixed?

We recently tried to wash a large pillow. Bad idea. Now whenever we try to wash anything larger than normal clothing (like a small rug or comforter) it makes noise like the gears are slipping. Can this be fixed? Or are we doomed to take larger items to the laundromat? Yikes!

If you live in NYC, is it better drop your clothes off at the laundromat?

I’m not sure how much it costs, but one of my friends suggested it. Now, I go back and forth up and down 4 flights of stairs several times because I don’t like waiting there for 2 hours (especially when there’s not any free dryers)
