What kind of thermostat do I need to buy if I have a heat pump with emergency heat?

Every thermostat I look at says it doesn’t work with a heat pump or not with emergency heat. Do you have any recommendations for a programmable one that isn’t +? Any links to cheap ones would be great.
I have found that not a t-stats that say they work with a heat pump have an "Emergency switch" or "Aux Switch". Is that required if my current t-stat does?

How much would it cost to get a heat pump or gas furnace/central air installed with ducting?

I am buying a house that has baseboard heat. How much would it cost to have a heat pump or furnace/air unit installed including duct installation? There is a crawl space and an attic, so there is room for the ducts.

I believe that the heat strip is turning on, i get that smell like the first time you turn on heat in the winter. I just don’t understand why I have only noticed it in the past month.

I am trying to avoid a service call and my manual really doesn’t give any details. Is this something I can do? We have a lennox heat pump and a natural gas back-up.

…. which is financially better for you to be using — the gas furnace or the heat pump — to heat your house?

My point is, the more often you use your heat pump, the quicker it will wear out and need replaced.

Any insights?

I guess I’m trying to gauge how many years a heat pump in regular use lasts compared to a gas furnace in regular use.
