I can scrape it off with my fingernail but it leaves a brown stain.

I had friends over and I left the dishes to someone else and they didn’t rinse out the bowls we we’re using (white plastic mixing bowls) so now their stained one has a brown stain and one is yellow inside. How do I get them back to white, and still be able to cook with them?
