What would you like to ask? When you compost horse manure, how do you do it to make sure it is done properly?

My horses and our family live in Southern California and would like to recycle our horse manure as part of our home gardening system. I would like to make sure that the following pests are taken care of:

1. bermuda grass seed from hay 2. e. coli and other bacteria are managed 3. ph level correct 4. do I need to worry about horse intestinal worms when composting? You never see this topic in gardening books

Is it safe to dry Books in Microwave? Also, microwaves will kill any mites etc, right!?

These books have been lying around in a dark mite infested closet….they even feel kinda "soggy" to touch (not wet though). Can I use microwave to quickly get rid of humidity and kill any bacteria, mites etc? Is it safe?
Can’t spray for mites because then the books will get wet and ink will get messed up (among binding and other things)! Heat seems to be a good way of killing mites instantly. Thoughts?

Is it safe to wash nappies (diapers) on a cold water cycle in the washing machine?

I read recently that it was more the agitation and soap which got rid of the bacteria; even washing in hot water (boiling) didn’t kill all the baddies. These are modern cloth, so they’re made from PUL, bamboo, and microfleece. I hang them in the sun to dry when it’s sunny, but in rainy weather, they dry undercover (still outside).

Where can I get a home tested for bacteria and germs like they do on “How Clean Is Your House”?

On that show they do tests in those dirty houses for different bacteria, germs, etc. to show the homeowners that their lack of cleaning could cause them health problems. How can I have those tests done locally?
