There is a metal bar in my trash can. I have no idea what it’s for or how to use it.What is it? How do I use?
December 12th, 2009 at 14:25To answer the current questions: Nope, it is not for holding the can lid up. There is a separate "foot operated" bar for that.

Does it have a pedal you push with your foot? If so it is to push the lid up when you press the foot pedal.

it is probably to hold the lid up so you can add trash without holding the lid!!!
