I have an electric heater in an apartment that periodically starts on it’s own when it’s in off Position,Why?

Is there a thermostat that monitors unit that is malfunctioning? I am trying to save $$ and pissed when it starts up by itself. Any ideas? I have not yet called apt complex. thanks

    some heaters have what is called a "frost guard" which turns on the heat briefly when the temperature falls to near freezing (prevents water pipes from freezing) – check the spec of your heater to see if that applies to your model.
    If it definitely does not have a frost guard, then you should get it checked by a registered electrician ASAP.

    has it a timer that is set ,, or if the temperature drops it comes on you will need to reset

    time for a better heater…sounds dangerous

    maybe not as long as you enclose the whole thing in steel sheets.
