Where do these yellow stains come from when I wash my white’s?

December 7th, 2009 at 6:57

I have white sheets for my bed. And it seems like everytime I wash them, I get these random YELLOW Stains. There were no stains on them prior to washing. I can easily remove them by spraying bleach on them. But it is getting really annoying that I have to wash these sheets twice! I think I am washing them in cold water, if that makes a difference. How do I prevent these yellow stains, and where are they coming from?

The stains come from sweat or other bodily excretions that don’t show up until the hot water in the wash ‘sets’ them.
Cold water may prevent them, but I think that in order to be sure your sheets are clean, you should continue to wash in warm water and add a small amount of bleach.
