November 25th, 2009 at 7:27

House is 2000 sq. ft, windows replaced within the last 5 years. 2 story house
Live in NW IL. Keep the temp around 67 in the winter. Winter months generally begin late October – April. Not sure about oil or gas. Will have to find out tonight.

I have hot water radiators. In the attic I have hot water baseboard. My furnace uses home heating oil. My tank is in the basement. If it were outside, I would have to get a 50% mix of kerosene to keep the oil from gelling in the winter.
There are also propane furnaces. Your question cannot be answered unless you are more specific as to the fuel type. Even then it is dependent on the price, which can fluctuate by 100%. Oil was at 2.32 a gallon, then went to 4.65 a gallon. That is quite a difference in price. 233 dollars difference per 100 gallons.
It also depends on where you live, how cold it gets, what temperature you keep your house at, and how much hot water you use if you are going to get your hot water from the same furnace.

This depends on a lot of things.

Are you using gas to heat the water? or oil?
What temperature is the thermostat set to?
    is the roof insulated?

Can’t answer the question with the provided information.

But I just wanted to say:
I love my baseboard hot water heat. It is very comfortable.

And, i also have a heat pump. I save very little money running the heat pump -vs- running the boiler/radiant heat. And the heatpump just makes me uncomfortable from the moving notSoHot air.

(I have a heat pump because it cost $45 more for a heat pump than straight a/c when i installed it; and it was in stock that day)

Call the electric company and get a history of the bills for the property for the last year or two.
