Want to paint wrought iron fence with plant covering it. How to do it?

September 30th, 2009 at 1:13

Do not wish to cut down/back the plant. One side of fence can be painted, but other side covered by plant. Any suggestions?

  1. JAN Says:

You can not paint it right without removing the plants covering it.

You’ll have to pull away as much as possible to paint the plant side. You didnt say which plant. If its an ivy, you got a lot of work to do. Just do your best if its impossible to move, who’s gonna know?

good luck do it right by removing the vegetation after the job is complete you can reattach and train plant back to the fence. there are paints formulated for wrought iron,or you can apply a rustoleum with a paint mitten designed for that job available at sherman williams or comparable paint supplier.be sur to clean and prep the iron properly before painting or in some cases exterior varnish finish is called for. any commercial paint supplier can provide you with the products and knowledge or go to DIY.COM or ASK.COM and i believe both sites have videos
